A first sneak peek at a brand new venture for social and environmental sustainability in Settle. Come along and find out how you can get involved!
Settle Shed
Community - Sustainability - Enterprise
Settle Shed is an exciting new venture to be located in the old Dugdale‘s Garden Shed shop, adjacent to Victoria Hall. The premises will be renovated as a base for social enterprises and collaborative projects to benefit our community. At this stage, plans are still developing and fundraising is our priority, but we have a couple of projects that are already planned.
Repair Café
Skills - Environment - Economy
Do you have things in your home that don’t work? Perhaps they are broken, or simply need a new component to be fitted? Settle’s new repair café will be a place where you can bring along anything that needs attention to give it a new lease of life, free of charge (donations welcome!). We will tap into one of Settle’s best resources – its people. Perhaps that includes you! Share your skills or learn new ones, with all training and tools provided.
The Invigorate Plastics Project
Craft - Commerce - Employment
Can we make useful products out of stuff we throw away? This is the question at the heart of a new project to try out ways of reprocessing waste plastics to give them a useful second life. From a ‘maker space’ that local artisans and crafters can use to experiment with the thermosetting process, to commercial opportunities for our reprocessed plastic products, find out how you can get involved.
Please come along to our presentation and drop in event. All welcome.
