Giggleswick Railway Circle: British Steam in the Preservation Era, 1970-1995

  • Settle Victoria Hall 24 Kirkgate Settle, England, BD24 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

Presented by David Fowler

It is hard to believe that BR mainline steam finished in 1968. A lot has happened since then. David's presentation tonight covers, approximately, the first quarter-century of post_BR preservation. He feels this is about the right length to cover the most important aspects of what is in retrospect was a most interesting period of the preservation era, with locos and scenes which are unlikely to be repeated. It also provides an opening to presentations from 1996 onwards.

Giggleswick Railway Circle (GRC) is a voluntary group that holds regular meetings for anyone interested in railways.

So, if are you interested in….

·         Past, present and future railway operations

·         Locomotives and rolling stock

Normally our meetings are held at 19.30 on the 4th Wednesday monthly, but please check the diary before travelling.

GRC is not a club; all are welcome to the meetings, and there is no subscription or membership needed. Refreshments are included in the admission charge.
