A celebration of 50 years of Fun and Folk with Legends of Lancashire

Featuring David Littler founding member of the original Westhoughton Weavers ,Paul Johnston formerly of Five Penny piece , Dave Mather from The Mather Robinson band and Anthony Quinn  flautist extraordinaire !

This year David is celebrating 50 years on the road and says ‘it’s great working with Anthony ,Dave and Paul who really know how to entertain an audience by weaving a comfort blanket of FUN & FOLK throughout the evening leaving everyone wanting more.’

These talented musicians have come together with stories and songs to have an evening of full of fun and laughter.

David started his musical career playing guitar with his first group The Waysiders where lead guitarist Brian Gibb went on to be a member of the famous Wigan Rock band Rainbow Cottage . Then David became a member of Westhoughton amateur variety entertainment society (WAVES) as one of their guitarists and then in 1975 founded along with brother Denis , Norman Prince and Tony Berry the Weshoughton Weavers , whom soon dropped the west and thanks to David and Denis’s mother were given a spot on a BBC North West talent show called ‘we’ll call you ‘. The Weavers first started their own BBC North West series ‘Sit thi Deawn ‘ which continued for 7 years  .

David’s long career saw him appear with the group on countless Radio Shows , six pantomimes ,recorded at EMI Abbey road studios and in many the North West theatres for 49 years and now in his 50 th year wishes to celebrate with his friends Paul Johnston who formerly appeared with Lancashire folk group Five Penny Piece , Dave Mather and Anthony Quinn who played at the Great British folk festival with the Mather Robinson Band .

The evening will contain many sing along favourites including The Blackpool Belle , Sit thi Deawn ( title track of the TV Show  ) and Big Jim were a worm .

Tickets £16

  • Most of our shows use ‘cabaret-style’ seating. This means that your seats will be unreserved, which allows you to decide where to sit when you arrive.

The stalls (downstairs) are set up informally, with chairs around small tables, for a sociable, relaxed atmosphere, and somewhere to put your drink. Cabaret seating also allows space for dancing, which is highly encouraged at Victoria Hall!

For those who prefer a more ‘traditional’ theatre experience, the balcony seats are laid out in rows and raked, ensuring all seats have an excellent view.

For parties of six or more, tables in the stalls can be reserved- contact us to reserve a table. If you have reserved a table, we ask that at least one of your party turn up at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, in order to secure your table.

We can always reserve seating or wheelchair spaces in the stalls for those unable to use the stairs- just let us know when you book your tickets.
