Meet Klezmer-ish, four incredibly outward-looking musicians who met as members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Drawing inspiration from the music of bygone travellers, the instrumental quartet – featuring double bass, piano accordion, guitar, clarinet, violins, viola and woodwind at various times - explore the music brought by immigrants from different cultural backgrounds who left their homelands in pursuit of a different life. From rip-roaring klezmer and dynamic tango via Kurdish and Balkan tunes to self-penned gypsy jazz, Klezmer-ish bring a trademark twist and exceptional virtuosity to whatever genre takes their fancy. It’s a seamless musical journey, always on the move.
Klezmer-ish are:
Thomas Verity – clarinet, woodwind
After seven seasons with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Tom joined the Welsh National Opera as principal clarinet in 2019. In his free time he loves playing jazz piano.
"The fusion of our rigorous background as classical musicians with our passion for exploring exciting new musical territories is what makes us special."
Concettina Del Vecchio – violin, piano accordion
Connie is a sub-principal violinist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra, but she started her musical career on the piano accordion aged three.
"As classical musicians we work in a hierarchical structure… no such thing with Klezmerish. All equals. No rules or regulations. All led by the music, and by the mutual respect we have for each others’ talent."
Rob Shepley - guitar, viola, violin
Rob is the sub-principal viola of the RLPO … but late at night he gets out his fiddle and guitar and plays anything from gypsy jazz to oldschool rock.
"We are fascinated by exploring the music and stories of immigrants from all sorts of musical and cultural backgrounds who left their homelands to travel the world in pursuit of a better life.
Marcel Becker - double bass
Marcel is the leader of the double bass section of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra – and a massive salsa fan!
"We get inspired by the original tunes but tailor them to our own personal taste, giving them our own twist. All the music is arranged by us and for us."

CABARET SEATING
Most of our shows use ‘cabaret-style’ seating. This means that your seats will be unreserved, which allows you to decide where to sit when you arrive.
The stalls (downstairs) are set up informally, with chairs around small tables, for a sociable, relaxed atmosphere, and somewhere to put your drink. Cabaret seating also allows space for dancing, which is highly encouraged at Victoria Hall!
For those who prefer a more ‘traditional’ theatre experience, the balcony seats are laid out in rows and raked, ensuring all seats have an excellent view.
For parties of six or more, tables in the stalls can be reserved- contact us to reserve a table. If you have reserved a table, we ask that at least one of your party turn up at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, in order to secure your table.
We can always reserve seating or wheelchair spaces in the stalls for those unable to use the stairs- just let us know when you book your tickets.
Please note, online bookings are subject to a booking fee. Tickets can also be bought by phone on 01729 825718, or in person at our box office. Opening hours are 10am-2pm, Monday-Friday.
Show end times given are an estimate only. Doors open 45 minutes before show start times.
Settle Victoria Hall reserves the right to turn away any customers not adhering to social-distancing laws, government guidelines, and/ or venue safeguarding policies.
