Come to an exciting concert of traditional Scandinavian music and dance with wonderfully talented Swedish artists.
Brought to you by Scandimoot as part of our weekend event in the Dales www.scandimoot.org.uk
Stay on after the concert for more music and dance with the course participants.
Mats Berglund began playing traditional fiddle music during his early school years in Värmland, not far from the Swedish/Norwegian border.
He has spent many years researching, exploring and reviving the older folk music styles from that border region with their unusual asymmetric rhythms.
Fredrik Lundberg is a fiddle player from Värmland who has been active within the Swedish traditional music scene since the late 1980s, always focused on dance music.
Fredrik says that during his 25-30 years as a fiddle teacher, there is one aim that drives his teaching practice more than any other, and that is to enthuse others with his own love of the music.
Samuel Lundh got to know the world of music through violin, guitar and (Sweden’s national instrument) nyckelharpa.
He studied at the Gothenburg music academy and has played and performed in many different collaborations.
Isa Holmgren is a vocalist and dancer who grew up in the traditional dance scene in Värmland.
Her folk dance experience is rooted in the asymmetrical rhythms and melodies of the dance music from the Swedish-Norwegian border region.
Andy Parr trained as a dancer in Sweden and is also a talented musician.
His teaching is both thorough and inspiring and he is currently involved in running Swedish dance workshops all over England.
